[*212] Beginning with 5.1.149.1 there are no accent marks in the text until the third to last word of 5.1.149.4, where 'ham has a svarita mark. At this point the accents resume with an udātta over mā́m, the last word of this verse.
[*213] TS 6.3.7.1; TB 3.3.7.1 (VC p. 7)
[*214] After oṃ, beginning with the word namaḥ, there is a quote from the Āśvalāyana-Śrauta-Sūtra, AŚ 1.2.1, (p. 14-15) which continues until VMP 5.1.149.9 as indicated.
[*215] AŚ sama-sthita-
[*216] AŚ sādhu
[*217] The AŚ here gives amum iti svan nāmādiśeta.
[*218] This verse is not in AŚ 1.2.1. The accent marks disappear again here with this verse and resume toward the end of text 5.1.149.8.
[*219] 1984 edition: ābhjāmyava āvyaṃ; 1946 edition: ābhajāny apāvyaṃ; AŚ ābhajāmy apāvaṃ
[*220] The AŚ here inserts: iti aṅguly-agrāṇy avakr̥ṣya
[*221] The AŚ here inserts: iti pratisandadhyāt
[*222] Accent marks resume here with a svarita over the tu in santu.
[*223] AŚ here inserts the word iti after maśīya which marks the end of AŚ 1.2.1.
[*224] Beginning with the words tád adyá in VMP 5.1.149.8 and ending here with the word juṣadhvaṃ a complete verse from RV 10.53.4 is quoted. In the VMP text, the verse is divided between two sections. The third line of this verse, ū́rjāda...juṣadhvam, is the first line of section 150, however the numbering has been adjusted so that the complete verse is at the end of section 149. AŚ 1.2.1 includes only a pratīka from RV 10.53.4, however VMP includes the entire RV verse.
